The 24-70mm is often hailed as the most popular choice for a variety of photography professionals, including wedding shooters. Canon offers two L-series interpretations of this lens, the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM, and newer EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM. While appearing similar in title, the two share little apart from focal length, angle of view (84 Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM Vello Lens Hood EW-88C f/ Canon LHC-EW88C 77mm Snap-on Tulip Lens Hood (Version II) LHS-77II Canon EF 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 Vello EW-83H Lens Hood f/Canon LHC-EW73II 67mm Snap-on Tulip Lens Hood (Version II) LHS-67II Weight. 1.77 lb / 805 g. 1.77 lb / 805 g. 1.98 lb / 900 g. 1.35 lb / 615 g. Alternatives: Canon users can get the EF 24-70mm f2.8 II L USM from 2012. It has no image stabilization and costs around 1800 EUR. Nikon has the AF-S 24-70mm f2.8E ED VR from 2015. It’s stabilized and costs around 2100 EUR and its optical performance earned it a Highly Recommended. See my Nikon 24-70mm f2.8E VR review. One interesting design is the original Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L introduced in 2002 and replaced by the EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L II in 2012. The older design is fully extended at 24mm and fully retracted at 70mm. To the uninformed observer it appears that the lens is "zoomed in" when it is actually "zoomed out" and vice-versa. Of course, the more straight-forward comparison here would be between the brand new Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM and the EF version, but this 28-70mm lens review and comparison does reveal just 105mm. 135mm. The EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM is a solid lens, both optically and build wise. The image quality is still competitive with the latest offering from Canon and the lens is a solid alternative for those seeking an f/2.8 normal zoom but not wishing to spend the $2000-plus Canon is asking for its replacement. The Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD and its successor (same name but with G2 at the end) are fantastic lenses, with real cost savings over the equivalent Canon products, and are image stabilized (unlike the equivalent Canon products). In tests, they aren't quite as sharp as the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L lenses are, but it's close enough. The EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM is the latest lens from the elite L-series to offer Canon's high-grade and user-focused design enhancements. The mechanical structure of the lens has been improved to offer enhanced zoom durability and greater shake and shock resistance within the lens barrel. Hi all. I have a EOS R5 and I already own a RF 16-35mm f/2,8 and a RF 70-200mm f/2,8 along with the EF 300mm f/4 and the EF 8-15mm f/4 fisheye. Now I have a question since I own also an EF 24-70mm F/2.8L I USM zoom lens. Is it worth accodording to your opinion to sell/upgrade this current zoom
